Representing underwriters' interests in the London and international markets in virtually all major market wide issues in recent years including personal accident and workers compensation claims, Exxon Valdez and Kuwait LMX reinsurance recovery actions, WTC claims, Katrina claims, dotcom bubble claims, US tax shelter claims, Worldcom, Global Crossing, US mutual late trading/market timing disputes, stock option backdating claims, Sempra Energy California Wildfire claims and most recently sub-prime related claims
Advising London market reinsurers on coverage issues, and in particular the basis of claims presentations, under D&O insurances in respect of credit-crunch related claims
Acting for insurers of a US loss adjuster in a negligence claim brought against the adjuster for alleged negligent adjustment of Hurricane Katrina flood claims, which involved London arbitration, concurrent proceedings in Louisiana, anti-suit and anti-anti-suit injunctions, and ultimately mediation
Representing reinsurers of a captive of a US professional services company regarding coverage issues in respect of US tax shelter claims and regulatory investigations, which raised important issues regarding the insurability of regulatory fines as a matter of English/Bermuda law
Advising energy mutual in relation to coverage for damage caused to a North Sea oil rig
Acting for excess insurers (excess of US$50m) on an E&O/D&O programme in international arbitration proceedings (UNCITRAL) in relation to their exposure arising out of a $100m US class action brought against their insured, a US Fortune 100 Company.
