We advised Clipper Windpower on its strategic alliance with BP Alternative Energy for the exploitation of Clipper's wind turbine technology through a long-term turbine supply agreement and the joint development of five wind energy projects in the USA, with a deal value of around US$4 billion. This was at the time the largest strategic alliance then seen in the UK renewable energy market.
We advised the British Olympic Association on matters relating to its Joint Marketing Programme Agreement with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games as part of the preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
We advised Marine Current Turbines on its contracts for the development, funding and licensing of MCT's patented tidal current technology and related intellectual property rights and know-how, including the 1.2MW 'SeaGen' tidal energy turbine in Northern Ireland's Strangford Lough. This transaction attracted considerable public attention. The then UK Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks commented: "The UK leads the world in the field of tidal energy and this announcement is a very important step in maintaining that position... Projects like SeaGen are exactly the type of scheme we have to replicate in order to develop a world class UK industry"
C&C Group PLC is an Ireland and UK based manufacturer, marketer and distributor of alcoholic drinks, listed on the Irish and London Stock Exchanges. C&C’s principal brands are the leading Irish cider brand, Bulmers, and the premium international cider brand, Magners. Following our advice on the acquisitions of the Irish, Scottish, and Northern Irish businesses of AB InBev including the Tennent's lager brand and the asset purchase of The Gaymer Cider Company from Constellation Brands, we then advised on a multi-million pound outsourcing project undertaken in order to successfully integrate the operations and technologies of the newly acquired Tennent’s and Gaymer’s businesses into that of the existing businesses and to achieve revenue and cost synergies in the combined businesses.
